ANIMAL PRODUCTS

The term animal products cover a wide range of items that have been manufactured from, or contain, parts of animals (hair, skin, bone, feathers).
Some of these products may be prohibited or restricted because they are either still capable of carrying disease, or can harbour insect pests.

Examples of Animal Products that require inspection include;
- Feather items
- Carvings with animal hair attached
- Eggs, for eating, or as painted souvenir
- Animal skins, drums or other musical instruments with a skin content
- Dog chews, dried pigs or cow ears
- Animal horns

Always declare these items, and if in doubt ask a Quarantine Officer for advice. Some items may be prohibited entry, and others may require treatment before entry can be allowed.
