IMPORT HEALTH STANDARDS

Samoa Quarantine Service makes risk decisions after a rigorous process of "risk management" where all the possible pests, diseases or environmental considerations are determined and assessed in light of Samoa's unique fauna, flora and way of life.

Each import (or likely import) undergoes this assessment and from that an Import Health Standard is produced.

In some cases, following the risk assessment the proposed import is determined to present too much of a risk - and importation is declined.

In all cases prospective importers are advised to contact the Quarantine Service well in advance of any proposed importation, and provide as much detail and information as they can to assist their application.

The Samoa Quarantine Service will do all it can to facilitate entry of
complying consignments.
